 ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2020-21

VIDYA SAGAR ATHRITIS FOUNDATION organized the awareness and training  programmes,  in Kadapa urban and Rural areas of YSR. Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The activities were conducted for women and child development activities, awareness camps and trainings for  women, children, youth and students of the working area. The activities were undertaken for youth, women, children, students and farmers. The activities were conducted with member’s contribution and local donations. The following activities were carried out during the year 2020-21.

 MEDICAL  CAMPS.

The general health checkup and vision checkup camps were organized in Government primary schools. The local doctors were invited for the checkup camps. The parents were addressed to care the children health and treatments. The vision problems were explained to the parents. They advised to nourish the children with nutritive food, fruits and vegetables. The camps were organized in the urban slums.

AWARENESS ON MALNUTRITION.

The malnutrition is an invisible health problem in poor communities due to neglect of nutrition diet and lack of nutrition education. The women and children are vulnerable this health risk. So awareness created on malnutrition effects such as low birth weight, washing, illness and mortality among children and maternity mortality, lack of physical fitness to work among women. The lack awareness in child feeding, child food habits, child marriages and narrow spacing births was created. The women were educated on gating fruits and vegetables in regular diet, diet preparation and preservation of excess fruits and vegetable available at no cost or low cost to avail round the year to develop immunity and reduce malnutrition.

YOGA TRAININGS.

The training classes were conducted in Government schools in Kadapa urban and rural area. The Yoga was approved scientifically for physical and mental development. It may be considered as an exercise and physiotherapy to body. The Government of India is promoting the yoga as health practice through ministry of health. Hence the yoga classes were conducted to students after school hours in the evening. The student’s health was improved by yoga practices. The behavior changes were observed through yoga practices.

AWARENESS CAMPS ON ATHRITICS AND OSTEOPORASIS.

The awareness camps were conducted in the operational area on arthritis and osteoporosis risks in poor communities. The participants were educated on the inflammatory arthritis have an increased risk of development osteoporosis, the bone thinning disorder that can lead to frailty and fractures’., bone loss generally presents in two different forms: localized bone erosion with bone loss around an inflamed joint and systemic bone loss, or generalized osteoporosis, which is manifestations of the disease the participants were educated on the aspects to overcome the risk; getting plenty of calcium and D-Vitamin in diet, regular exercise, avoiding smoking and alcohol, minimize corticosteroid use and doctor.

AWARENESS ON CORONAVIRUS.

The awareness was created on coronavirus pandemic the current health issue in the public. The awareness was created on the principles of COVID-19 among men and women in the poor communities. The awareness created on the distancing, masks wearing, nutrition diet, testing and treatment facilities.

AWARENESS TO PREGNANT WOMEN

The awareness was created to young women and pregnant women on the pregnancy care and protection. The awareness was created on the nutrition diet, regular medical checkup, institutional delivery, pre-natal, post-natal and anti-natal.

COVID-19 SERVICES

Food distribution: The food was supplied to the migrant workers and foot path dwellers during pandemic period.

Fruits and vegetable distribution: The fruits and vegetables was supplied to the poor families in urban slums to increase the immunity.

SKILL TRAININGS PROGRAMMES

Computer training: The computer basics training was provided to unemployed youth for self-employment. 20 youth provided 3 months training.

Tailoring and embroidery training: The tailoring and embroidery training was provided to poor women for self-employment. 18 youth provided 3 months training.

Training in saree painting: The saree painting training was provided to poor women for self-employment. 23 youth provided 3 months training

EDUCATION SUPPORT TO POOR STUDENTS.

Free coaching to poor students: The poor students were provided coaching in APJRC and polytechnic entrance examinations. 15 students were provided coaching for three months.

Free Education material to poor students: The poor students were provided educational material like note books, writing pads, pens, pencils, geometry box, color pens and pencils, draining note books and rough note books. The teachers help was taken in selection of deserving students for material access.

School fee to poor students: The school fee was provided to poor students studying in private schools. The deserving students were identified by our volunteers in the community.

Free tuitions to poor students: The free tuitions were conducted to the students of primary schools in urban slums to improve the education standard and increase general knowledge. The youth volunteers were engaged in this programme. The games and sports were conducted to the students.
